Vinci Ringway - Office Conversion

Having been awarded the highways PFI contract, Vinci Ringway purchased an old Southern Water building in September 2012. With the roads contract commencing on April 1 2013, Vinci Ringway needed a contractor who could rebuild from scratch in record time. Stoneham Construction Ltd fought off tough competition to win the contract to convert the old shed into a 21st century 2 storey office building for over 80 staff, complete with micro power generation, rain water harvesting and charge points for a small fleet of electric vehicles. Working closely with MH Architects of Chichester and Vinci Ringway,  what was once a tatty building, was stripped back to the bare frame which, following some structural changes, was rebuilt as a technically integrated office providing   24 hr accommodation for the staff in just 21 weeks.

Working in extraordinary conditions from the outset, throughout the wettest autumn for many years, the site manager was relieved when the roof and cladding was completed, with just 12 weeks remaining to compete the internal fit out if the project was to achieve the tight deadlines.
