Social Housing

Stoneham Construction Ltd have constructed almost 650 units of social housing since their formation in 1992. Schemes have ranged from just two or three infill houses to the largest schemes of 155 apartments and houses on a highly contaminated site, requiring extensive cleaning up prior to commencement of construction.

Many of these schemes involve substantial infrastructure work, and we have been successful in procuring the adoption of new road and services where required.

Stoneham Construction Ltd are happy to undertake a full design and build project, or to work with the clients chosen design team. Consequently, we have worked with many of the local architects and engineers, but also with notable London architects such as PCKO, bringing new skills and design features to the Island.

As the island’s premiere social housing builder, we are often approached by potential clients, seeking construction feasibility advice for potential new projects.

Our supply chain on the island is well established and robust. We have been able to utilize the design experience of established timber frame Engineers to deliver thermally efficient and cost effective solutions for Social Housing Landlords, building whole communities in a sustainable way. Over the years, we have achieved code 5 of the sustainable homes standard; we have built certified Pasiv houses, and we have built the only social housing on the Isle of Wight with green sedum roofing. Our commitment to affordability and the fact that we are often building in ‘our own backyard’ means that we take pride in what we do and our workforce have real commitment in delivering to their own community.

Stoneham construction ltd has developed an enviable reputation for delivering quality residential build projects for both suburban and rural social housing.
